Hi Tony and Katie,
I hope you are all doing well. I'm sending you some pictures of Hero. We
have been busy over the past 2 years training for all sorts of Search and
Rescue stuff.
We are now officially validated for Avalanche Rescue through CARDA
(Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association), Area Search, through CARDA and
BC Search Dog Association, (we are members of PEP -Provincial Emergency
Program). We are also members of our own group here in Revelstoke called
Canadian Canine Search and Rescue.
We are working on our tracking profile, which is going well and should be
ready to certify next spring.
I am also proud to say that we will be working as a Search and Rescue Dog
team representing CARDA at the Olympics in Whistler next February!
We are also certified for HETS (Helicopter External Transport System) for
quicker insertion to avalanche scenes. There is a picture showing this.
We have been on many planes, helicopters, snowcats, snowmobiles and
basically anything else that moves! It's been alot of fun so far, I love
this dog, he is truly amazing!
He will do anything I ask him to do (except be quiet sometimes........he
just gets so excited). Hero is an amazing creature. He is powerful,
energetic, intelligent, and has friendly disposition. He can be trusted
with any person or child. His nose and drive are incredible....he moves
fast and with purpose. And he loves to play.
