History

We've been training dogs professionally for well over 25 years. I have always loved dogs. Having grown up in Prague, former Czechoslovakia, within walking distance of a K-9 training center I have spent a lot of time watching service and sport dogs being trained. Initially, I latched on to anyone who knew or thought they knew anything about working retrievers, upland hunting, obedience and read all the books.....To cut the story short, in a few years we were selling high quality hunting dogs that were sold under our registered kennel name "Cancheck Kennels", later to be changed to Canczech Kennels. We would search out top people in the field and learn all we could from the best we could find locally, for most part, and on several occasions this search for having the best teachers has taken Tony back to Europe more than once. With a fellow Czech trainer, we co-imported our first European German Shepherd form Czechoslovakia. At this time, people in North America had no idea where Czechoslovakia was or why the "Czech dogs" were unique. The quality of the dogs spoke volumes and soon we become well known suppliers and trainers of G.S. dogs to police forces and discriminating civilians internationally.

Clients

Royal Canadian Mounted Police become a large client and our dogs were highly sought after. They become known as "Canczech" or "Nikl dogs" by individual members.

In 1996 we had our start in the local movie industry. Our Czech imported female "Fina" was asked to take down a seven foot Werewolf in a movie called Bad Moon. She aced the task and ignited a new passion and an opportunity to enhance our diversity in training. We were fortunate enough to be introduced to this industry by top people in this business.

Ambitions

Our diverse history and keen interest and hunger to learn and improve has led us to become top in field of dog training. We hope to keep learning and improving, for no matter how good you are there is always room to learn more in this fascinating field.

	Tony Nikl Founder and head trainer.Tony has an amazing talent for asking a dog to do a behavior and as if by magic the dog will do the behavior. His special talent is bringing out the worst in a dog's attitude in aggression work and reading a dog's best kept secrets regarding their natural potential in a particular field of work.
	Katie Nikl Founder and trainer. Katie's expertise lies in observing a training session and picking out problems and offering a solution. She can read a dog with uncanny accuracy. Her real talent however lies with puppies. Puppies raised by her have had exceptionally high success rate in all endeavors. If we are purchasing a pup or a dog, Katie is the one we all want to have with us. Katie is a spirited if not perfectly coordinated decoy.
	Michele Grenkow Owns and operates MiHi Kennels , Michele breeds and shows Great Danes. She is our conformation adviser and being a first aid instructor and a vet tech, she is indispensable for our dogs and on occasion to our decoys. Michele is an accomplished trainer. Her Danes are well trained and have appeared in several TV shows and movies. We have yet to find something Michele can not do! She is also a great artist that has made wonderful painting of our dog Fina. She also designed our logo. Michele is now owner/operator of "ANIMAL HAVEN GROOMING"
	Geoff Cave Owns and operates Canine Outfitters. Geoff produces excellent equipment for working dogs. We are fortunate to test all of his equipment to the fullest. Geoff has been training with us since 2002 now and is becoming a decoy and a trainer to recon with.
	Dave Santella Dave has been training with us on and off for several years. He is now working on our professional trainer program and is becoming an excellent trainer and a decoy. Dave has had a lots of experience with dogs prior to coming to us, as he is a SPCA special constable.
